Blepharitis

Meaning inflammation of the eyelids, blepharitis occurs when oil glands near the base of the eyelashes become obstructed, leading to red, irritated eyes. Although the condition is often chronic and can be hard to treat, it does not cause permanent damage to eyesight and is not contagious.
